Youth Leads UK is an award-winning charity. They empower young people by running skills development programmes, publishing Xplode Magazine and challenging decision-makers.
Youth Leads was a charity we worked with previously on a branding exercise, so we jumped at the chance to collaborate again on a new website for them. They needed a well-designed website to represent their culture and values. Getting involved with a charity that puts young people at the centre of its campaigns and projects was always going to be fun.
In addition, the brief required us to combine the new site with the blog for their youth magazine, Xplode.
The project began with a discovery workshop with some of the young people involved in the various Youth Leads programmes.
In a series of interactive sessions, we asked, listened, and collaborated - and we gained some great insight into exactly what the young people wanted to create. We also generated some excellent creative ideas that we could use on the project.
Youth Leads' existing website did not reflect where they were in their journey. In designing and building the site, we aligned it with their personality and with the needs of their two main users.
Users of the website are mostly teenagers, and a large percentage will be on mobile devices. With this in mind, we took a mobile-first approach to the user experience, design and build.
Our other major users are parents and professionals. Whether a parent or carer looking to get their child involved in Youth Leads, or a professional who wants to help or volunteer, we needed to make sure that they are able to access the information that’s relevant to them quickly and easily.
Fundraising is an important component of charity success. A key part of the project was to give users the opportunity to contribute financially through the site, Which we achieved through third party integration with Blackbaud,
The new Youth Leads website launched with great success, and we’re proud to be part of the amazing journey as they go from strength to strength.
